Several weeks ago we completed one of our goals, to take a road trip and visit friends and family in North Carolina and Virginia. On our way home we spent one fabulous night at The Blackburn Inn in Staunton, PA. On our last night on the road we enjoyed the beauty of the Pocono Mountains and spent the night at The Bischwind Inn.
It was the perfect place to enjoy our last night on the road. The Bischwind Inn is located on the National Historic Registry. The Presidential Dining Room, where breakfast is served, has hosted Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Sikorsky.
We choose to stay in the Wolf Den, which was a charming room with a full whirlpool bath and a sitting area. Across the hall was a small kitchen with a refrigerator and a mocrowave that we could us. We always travel with healthy road snacks so it was nice to be able to keep things chilled.
The grounds of the Inn were beautiful, terraces overlooking the garden and an on site swimming pool. It was all so beautiful and relaxing. The Bischwind was built in 1890 and looks like a classic English Tudor Country Manor.
Bear Creek Village is a fascinating place with lots of history. We didn’t have much time to do any exploring but the Inn is located on a sixty-acre lake surrounded by century old pines and graveled and shaded roads. The perfect place to stretch our legs. We took advantage and managed to get two three mile walks in while we were there. It was so beautiful.
If you ever find yourself in the Pocono Mountains and are looking for a place to say I would highly recommend The Bischwind Inn, the four course country breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. You can enjoy the surroundings and relax. Enjoy tea on the covered porch or sit by the pool and read. It was definitely a worthwhile place to stop and just unwind after the miles of driving we had done.
