Moving? What Do You Pack Last?

This move has been a challenge. When we first put our house on the market over two years ago the realtor suggested we start to pack up the family photos and have the house as clutter free as possible. The object was to give those looking at the house the freedom to imagine their things in the house. So all the family photos, some artwork and books were packed away.  when you are moving, what do you pack last?

Once we received our offer packing began in earnest. We packed up everything we would not need in the weeks ahead. With only a week until we leave you may wonder what do you pack last?

Currently we are eating off of plastic plates and bowls. I have two pans we’ve left out and I have a set of silverware that will travel with us.

We have gone through our clothes and packed two suitcases. One full of clothes we will want to have on hand before the moving truck arrives and the boxes are unpacked. We have another set of small suitcases that will contain the clothes we will be wearing as we drive across the country.

For the car we have two coolers, one to carry sandwich meats, water and drinks we may want while driving. We also have a smaller cooler that will carry our lunch for the day and any snacks we may want.

Once the house is packed up we will have once last night in our house. Luckily we have a wall bed to sleep in and a simple breakfast of granola and yogurt to enjoy as our last breakfast. At that point the truck will be packed and our car will be packed. We are having the house cleaned that morning and then we are on the road!

Figuring out what to pack last is not too hard. You just have to decide what you will need to get through that last week and what you may need during your travel time. The desktop computers will be packed up but we each have a laptop that will travel with us. Hopefully I will be able to continue to post my blog as we travel across the country.
