Easiest Focaccia Recipe Ever

Easiest Focaccia Recipe

Years ago a good friend of mine passed along this recipe and it’s been a while since I’ve made it. The other day I was making diner for my daughter and her family and I thought why not make the easiest focaccia recipe ever? This recipe never disappoints, it’s easy to make and is so delicious. It was gone by the end of the meal!Easiest Focaccia Recipe

This easiest focaccia recipe is so easy I decided to make it again this week to go with our beef stew, instead of using rosemary I sprinkled a little thyme and oregano on the top. It was equally as good.Easiest Focaccia Recipe

Ingredients:

1 tsp. sugar
2 ½ tsp. active dry yeast
½ tsp. salt
1/3 cup warm water
2 cups of flour
2 Tbsp. olive oil
¼ tsp. Salt
Fresh rosemary (or other fresh herb)

Directions:

In a small bowl dissolve the sugar and yeast in the warm water. Let stand until creamy, about ten minutes.

In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the flour and salt. Stir well to combine. Stir in additional water, 1 Tablespoon at a time, until all of the flour is absorbed. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly for about one minute.

Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes or so.

Preheat the over to 475 degrees F.

Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface; knead briefly. Pat or roll the dough into a sheet and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Dimple the top of the dough with your finger and brush the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.Easiest Focaccia Recipe Sprinkle your fresh herb of choice as well. Rosemary is a perfect choice!Easiest Focaccia Recipe

Bake focaccia in preheated over for 10-20 minutes, depending on your desired crispness. If you like it moist and fluffy, then you’ll have to wait just about 10 minutes. If you like it crunchier and darker on the outside, you may have to wait 20 minutes. I cooked it for 15 minutes and it was just perfect.Easiest Focaccia Recipe
